Our Approach

At Locuspsych, we are committed to advancing mental health care through cutting-edge research, clinical innovation, and evidence-based interventions. Led by A/Prof Ahmad Torshizi, a Melbourne-based psychiatrist with expertise in neurodevelopmental and interventional psychiatry, our work is driven by a passion for translating neuroscientific discoveries into real-world clinical practice.

Our approach integrates three key pillars:

1. Translational Research in Psychiatry

We bridge the gap between neuroscience and clinical care by investigating the biological underpinnings of mental health disorders. Our research focuses on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), treatment-resistant depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)- disorders that often require a nuanced, multidisciplinary approach. By studying neurostimulation, pharmacotherapy, and emerging interventions, we aim to develop targeted treatments that improve patient outcomes.

2. Cutting-Edge Clinical Interventions

Locuspsych specialises in innovative biological treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for depression and OCD. Under the direct supervision of Dr Torshizi, our clinical team assesses and provides personalised interventions tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Our commitment to evidence-based practice ensures that we deliver safe, effective, and ethically sound treatments.

3. Collaboration for Impact

We believe that meaningful change in mental health care happens through collaboration. Locuspsych actively engages with universities, research institutes, industry partners, and government agencies to foster interdisciplinary research and drive policy advancements. As an Adjunct at the University of Western Australia and RMIT University, Dr Torshizi brings extensive academic expertise to our projects.

A Vision for the Future

Our mission at LocusPsych is to advance psychiatric research by integrating neuroscience, machine learning, and innovative methodologies. With government and institutional support, we aim to expand our research initiatives and develop scalable, accessible mental health solutions that benefit individuals and communities across Australia. Dedicated to driving innovation and collaboration, we strive to improve patient care and shape the future of mental health treatment, making a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by complex psychiatric disorders.
